Dr. Jess Amchin is a licensed, board
certified physician with over 15 years of pharmaceutical industry
experience. He is also a licensed attorney. As a pharmaceutical
industry consultant since 2005, Dr. Amchin has provided medical
consultation services for large, mid-size, and small pharmaceutical
and biotechnology companies. Dr. Amchin’s consulting services and related experiences
have focused on several main areas:
- Medical Affairs (supporting product development and commercialization)
- Clinical Research and Development
- Corporate business development and executive leadership
- Pharmaceutical-related legal matters
Prior
to establishing his consulting practice, Dr. Amchin served in a number
of positions of increasing responsibility in the pharmaceutical
industry. At Wyeth Pharmaceuticals he served two years as Senior
Director, Portfolio Development, Neuroscience, and five years as
Director of Medical Affairs with responsibility for central nervous
system products. Subsequently he served as Vice President of Medical
Affairs at Cephalon, an international biopharmaceutical company, and
Senior Medical Officer at Vela Pharmaceuticals Inc., a small, privately
held re-discovery and development company. Prior to joining the
pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Amchin practiced psychiatry as a faculty
member of the University of Pittsburgh and in private practice.
Dr.
Amchin’s experience in the pharmaceutical industry includes clinical
research, publications, medical information services, medical review of
promotional material, presentations to key internal and external
stakeholders, business assessments, new product development, support
for FDA submissions, meetings, and Advisory Committees, and review of
legal cases.
As a corporate business leader, Dr. Amchin has
contributed to corporate strategy development, implementation of
organization restructuring, and venture capital fund-raising. He
currently serves as a Board Director of Vantage Point Bank, a newly
launched commercial bank.
Dr. Amchin received his medical
degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in
New York, his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and his
Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University. He completed a Medical
Internship at Boston City Hospital and a Psychiatric Residency at the
New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
